Wang Yan Cheng
Peintures

January 13 – March 12, 2022
38 avenue Matignon, Paris
Born in China, and a graduate of the Shandong Institute of Fine Arts, Wang Yan Cheng moved to France in the early 1990s to acquire a deeper knowledge of western art and be closer to his esteemed predecessors, Zao Wou-Ki and Chu Teh-Chun, whom he greatly admired. Living and working alternately between Beijing and Paris, in recent years he has achieved full mastery of his expressionist art, earning him international recognition, both in Asia (exhibitions in national museums in China, Taiwan and Japan) and in Europe (exhibitions in Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Rome and Accademia delle Arti del Disegno, Florence) as well as New York (Acquavella galleries).

His first exhibition at Galerie Lelong & Co. brings together works produced in 2020-21 in Paris. The flamboyance of the pigments in conjunction with the energy of the strokes means that his work can be described as a “cosmogony of colours”.

Wang Yan cheng was born on 9 January 1960 in the province of Guangdong in China. He lives and works between Paris and Beijing.
