Biography
Pierre Alechinsky and Karel Appel met in 1949. Both members of the CoBrA movement, like this group of artists from Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam, they loved to collaborate and to combine poetry, drawing and painting in their work. Appel and Alechinsky had each worked with Christian Dotremont, but it was only in 1976 that the two began collaborating in Alechinsky’s studio in Bougival, and creating, each with his brush, a series of ink paintings together.
